Our History

How We Started

1987

Before AP

Founder Andrew Hearst has always been fascinated by letters. A local sign-writer Ivan Pearson came to sign-write his brother's stock-car and this lead to working over the summer with Ivan. He decided to go back to Armagh College (now SRC) and do A-level art. In 1987 he went to Preston University to study graphic design. After graduating he returned home and started work with a leading sign company.

Andrew Hearst Signs is Born

A chance conversation with a local businessman Rodney Williamson and Andrew Hearst signs was born in 1999. Like many small businesses they started out working in a small room and garage from home. 10 years later and with a new business partner Peter Rooney, the decision was made to move into business premises and AP Signs was born.

Fast-forward to now

Fast forward to now, and we are working with some of the most progressive thinking companies and our product range has expanded to the point where we can print onto almost any material. From our humble beginnings with a brush and a tin of paint AP signs are always adapting and evolving, continuously looking for ways to innovate and exceed the expectations of our customers.

The Future

Looking to the Future :

AP love challenges, and we have some amazing ground-breaking ideas for how our printing solutions can benefit our clients going forward. With the constant pressure to reduce the amount of plastic – which our industry is a major user, the need to print differently will become even more important as climate change and the environment heads towards some important business decisions.

To offer a true green solution, print products need to have zero effect on the environment after use. This is the value of A.P. and our product stewardship scheme allows us to take many of our products back at the end of their life and recycle them, preventing waste from entering landfill.

At A.P we aim to push the boundaries of technology and creativity, to evolve key printing solutions to some of the most pressing visual communication needs that both businesses and local government are going to face over the coming years.
